Splish Splash Nails

This is the perfect mani for a pool party. It's fun, bright, and has a 3D effect that looks just like water.

Sometimes inspiration strikes and you just gotta go with it. Originally, I was thinking about adding some gold foil to this mani. But as I was in the shower, I really liked how the water drops collecting on my nails looked and decided to recreate the effect with gel. This design uses Mix It Up and Tropic Like It's Hot from the Sippin' Pretty collection by Artistic Nail Design.

Marble Nails

Polish Used:

  • Artistic Colour Revolution - Mix It Up
  • Artistic Colour Revolution - Tropic Like It's Hot
  • Base and top coats
  • No wipe gel top coat
Other Supplies:
  • Buildable gel
  • Dotting tool
  • UV/LED lamp
  • Ball chain
  • Silicone mat
  • Nail art brush

If you are using gel, you could create this look directly on your nails. Since I'm using regular polish, I used a silicone mat to create decals to avoid issues with thick polish and excessive drying time. To create this look:
  1. Apply a stripe of indigo polish and a stripe of teal polish on a silicone mat.

  2. Use a ball chain and drag it through both colors.

  3. Let the polish dry on the mat to create a decal. Once dry, peel the decal off the mat, apply a layer of indigo polish, and place on the nail. Press gently and trim the edges. Use a nail art brush dipped in acetone to melt the edges to the nail and clean off any excess. Seal on with top coat.

  4. Use buildable gel and a dotting tool to add water drops to each nail and cure. Use a nail art brush and no wipe gel top coat on just the drops to make them shine.
